Research themes

Primary progressive MS, immunological features in MS relapses, neurotrophic factors in EAE/MS, role of cytokines and oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of MS, genetics in MS, searching for new therapies for MS in the EAE model.

Key words

T cells, B cells, neurotrophic factors (BDNF, GDNF, IL-6), inflammatory mediators (cytokines, chemokines), EAE, MS, oxidative stress, immunotherapies, IFN-beta, clinical relapse.

Methods

Cell cultures (bulk, primary, organotypic lines), cellular immunology (T-cell proliferation, FACS analysis), protein analyses (PAGE, UIEF, Western blot), molecular biology (Southern and Northern blot), cytokine detection systems (ELISA, intracellular staining, RT-PCR), chemokine and chemokine receptor detection systems (RPA), immunocytochemistry, animal models (EAE).
