University of Oxford, OX3 9DS, UK

Post-doctoral Researcher Academic-related Research Staff Grade 1A: £16,775-£25,213 pa

Applications are invited for this EC-funded post which is due to start in early 2002. The project aims to characterise pathogenic helper T cells recognising apparently dominant acetylcholine receptor epitopes in myasthenia gravis, and to collaborate in developing/testing reagents suitable for tolerising them in patients. Based in this exciting environment, this 42 month post will be supervised by Profs Nick Willcox, Angela Vincent and Socrates Tzartos.

Applications, including a CV and the names and addresses of two referees, should be sent to Prof Willcox at the above address by 20th Nov 2001. The University is an equal-opportunity employer.

University College London

Wellcome Laboratory for Molecular Pharmacology

Position: Postdoctoral Fellow

Location: The Wellcome Laboratory for Molecular Pharmacology (LMP) is part of the Department of Pharmacology at University College London, UK.

Project: We are looking for an enthusiast fellow, who would be interested in pursuing an academic career in the field of Neuroscience and have experience in one of the following: molecular biology, characterisation of ion channels in heterologous expression systems, expression and purification of proteins or immunohistochemistry. We are interested in studying the functional role, regulation and membrane targeting of calcium-activated potassium channel complexes in the central nervous system. By combining molecular and electrophysiological techniques, we have been characterising the molecular basis of calcium-activated potassium channel function in different brain regions. The project requires a multidisciplinary approach and active interactions between members of the group with different expertise. The candidates will be part of an extremely strong neuroscience community at UCL.

I have a position available for a PhD with strong background in neuroimmunology. In view of the future direction of our research I am also interested in PhD's with virological background.
I can offer the PhD a group leader position for the EAE research in nonhuman primates. Carreer possibilities at BPRC are good and staff position is not excluded. The position is of particular interest for dutch postdocs wanting to return to the Netherlands.
We are also looking for a PhD student to work with Sandra Amor on autoimmune reactions to axons/neurons in EAE.
